Luma Pools Entrance: Get the Wheel Moving

A motionless wheel and blocked underwater passages can stop your Ori and the Will of the Wisps Luma Pools journey before the region opens up. Learning how projectiles, bubbles, and underwater switches interact matters because those mechanics lead to Swim Dash and the route toward Kwolok. This Ori and the Will of the Wisps Luma Pools walkthrough follows that progression, with detours for useful collectibles.

For additional visual references, consult IGN’s Luma Pools walkthrough and collectible guide, the gaming-media source supporting this route.

Start at the large stationary wheel. Climb onto it, jump from its right side, and dive underwater. Near the projectile-firing plant, use Bash to redirect a shot into the barrier blocking the eastern passage.

Continue east. Redirect more projectiles into the next eastern barrier and the large green bulbs overhead. Breaking the bulbs gets the wheel turning.

Return to the wheel and use one of its projecting pillars to jump toward the northeastern wall. Climb, jump left to the platform, and glide west.

Beyond the short scene, bounce on the rising bubbles to reach the Moki’s platform. Speak with the Moki to accept Kwolok’s Wisdom. Finding Kwolok is part of this quest, but completing it also requires a later return trip.

Use the bubbles on the left to reach the western wall. From there, bounce again and combine Double Jump with Dash to reach the northwestern corner. Pull the lever, drop down, and continue west through the opened passage.

Find Ultra Bash and Lupo’s Map

The next stretch of Ori and the Will of the Wisps Luma Pools introduces a bubble-positioning sequence. Drop through the wooden platform into the water, lure the pursuing enemy left, and Bash it into the purple barrier. Clearing that barrier releases rising bubbles.

Use Flap to push an emerging bubble toward the wall. Quickly Grapple to the point northeast of you, jump, and Dash left onto the repositioned bubble. Its bounce carries you to Tokk’s ledge.

A good approach is to watch the bubble’s rise before attempting the entire movement sequence. The route requires repositioning the bubble and reaching it before it travels beyond your landing point.

Continue left and dive. Swim through the glowing, hairlike growths along the underwater terrain to open passages. Work toward the upper-right alcove; completing this sequence releases water into the area below. Return to the now-exposed Spirit Well and save.

Collect the shard and open shortcuts

Dive again and swim left past the bubble-producing creature for a Gorlek Ore. Then return and descend into the newly flooded chamber.

Use the projectile enemy in its bottom-left corner to break two barriers:

  • The northeastern barrier protects the Ultra Bash Spirit Shard.
  • The eastern barrier opens a shortcut into an earlier section.

Guide the same enemy toward the surface and redirect it into the barrier farther northwest. Enter the arena beyond it and defeat the enemies to continue west.

In the next underwater section, swim through the glowing growths to clear access around the purple aquatic plant. Guide its projectile enemy upward and right, activating the growth blocking that route, then Bash the enemy into the northern barrier.

Collect the large Spirit Light container and speak with Lupo to purchase the regional map. For Ori and the Will of the Wisps Luma Pools exploration, this is a useful point to compare your route with the remaining unexplored passages.

Collect Four Keystones and Unlock Swim Dash

Return underwater and guide the projectile enemy upward, then left, into the western purple barrier. Follow the opened route north to reach land and meet Kwolok.

Before continuing, there is a mysterious seed overhead. Climb the eastern wall, Bash off the lantern, and reach the small hanging ledge. Double Jump and glide west into the alcove containing the seed.

Next, dive below Kwolok and redirect a projectile into the bubble-producing creature. With bubbles rising, return to the hanging ledge. Glide onto a bubble, bounce, use a Spirit Edge attack for a small upward boost, and Dash right to the wall. Jump left to the upper path, defeat the enemies, and continue toward the keystones.

KeystoneRoute or technique
FirstEnter the water on the left and use Bash on the projectile enemy to launch Ori toward it
SecondActivate the bubble creature, Flap a bubble right, and use the left jump pad and platforms to reach that bubble
ThirdBash off an enemy, Grapple to the hanging blue point, and Dash left
FourthContinue west from the pedestal area, drop toward the keystone, and Dash to the left wall

For the second keystone, reposition the bubble before starting the jump-pad route. You must reach it after moving through the wall and platform sequence.

After collecting the third, use the Grapple point to reach the hanging wooden section northeast. Continue upward past the life cell plant to the pedestal. Activating it unlocks a challenge shrine in Luma Pools.

Collect the fourth keystone to the west, then return east to the gate. Spend all four keystones to open it and reach the Spirit Tree. Absorb its light to obtain Swim Dash.

This ability is central to the remaining Ori and the Will of the Wisps Luma Pools route: it lets you interact with underwater obstacles and cross the crushing-block passage ahead.

Solve the Luma Pools Anemone Puzzle

Below the Spirit Tree, Swim Dash into the bubble-producing creatures to release their bubbles. In the southeastern corner, Swim Dash into the blue-white stone shaped like a mushroom cap. This opens another area.

To reach it, let a bubble catch beneath the tree branch on the right. Swim Dash out of the water, glide above the tree, and bounce from the trapped bubble. Glide right into the newly accessible section.

An Energy Cell Fragment is nearby. From the water below, Swim Dash upward, Grapple northeast, and jump onto the right ledge.

Follow the anemone activation order

Enter the next chamber’s water and use the projectile enemy to destroy the central purple barrier. The anemones must then be activated quickly in this sequence:

OrderAnemone locationMovement
1SoutheastSwim through it
2SouthwestSwim Dash across from the southeast
3NorthwestSwim Dash upward from the southwest
4NortheastGrapple upward and glide through it

A good approach is to identify the Grapple point before starting. The last transition takes you out of the water, so knowing where to aim helps keep the sequence moving.

After completing the circuit, dive back in and activate the southeastern anemone again. Bash the nearby projectile enemy into the stone eastern wall to open the next passage.

Continue left, using a bubble to reach the earlier arena. Defeat the initial enemies; water fills the room as the encounter continues. Finish the remaining waves, and the water returns to its normal level.

Before leaving west, Swim Dash out of the water and bounce on a bubble to reach the upper wall. Climb for a Life Cell Fragment. In the next room, the left ledge holds the Energy Harvest Spirit Shard, while a Spirit Trial sits on the right.

Reach Kwolok and Update Kwolok’s Wisdom

Follow the lower route west to the three falling underwater blocks. Use Swim Dash to cross their crushing paths, then follow the water passage to another Spirit Well. Save before continuing.

Go left, swim along the passage, and Swim Dash onto the land above. Walking right leads to the encounter with the Moki and Kwolok.

Survive the chase and boss fight

The encounter begins with a chase. Run left, Bash off the hanging lantern, and Dash through the opening Kwolok creates. Continue into the water and use Swim Dash to clear falling obstacles. Exit the water at the far end to reach the combat arena.

During the fight:

  • Projectile attacks: Bash shots back toward Kwolok to deal damage.
  • Tongue attacks: Jump over the strike.
  • Hands emerging from the ground: Move away from their positions.
  • Downward slams: Dash away from the impact.

A good approach is to prioritize projectile returns when a shot is available. For melee attacks, climb the western wall and glide toward Kwolok with Spirit Edge. Spirit Arc can also damage him.

After the battle, Swim Dash out of the water and climb the hanging vines on the left. At the top, head right and speak with Kwolok. You receive the Strength of the Forest Wisp and complete The Lost Paradise.

Report back to the Moki

The Ori and the Will of the Wisps Luma Pools story encounter does not finish Kwolok’s Wisdom by itself. Return to the Moki who gave you the quest and report what happened.

Use the closest Luma Pools Spirit Well to warp to the other Spirit Well in the region, then revisit the Moki. Talking about Kwolok updates the side quest.

Collectibles to Revisit Afterward

A good approach to Ori and the Will of the Wisps Luma Pools cleanup is to review the pickups along the route you just followed. The flooded chamber, Kwolok’s overhead alcove, and the arena detour each contain items described earlier in this walkthrough.

CollectibleLandmarkAction described in the route
Gorlek OreWater left of the bubble-producing creature near the newly exposed Spirit WellSwim left past the creature
Ultra BashNortheastern barrier in the newly flooded chamberRedirect the bottom-left projectile enemy into the barrier
Mysterious seedAlcove above and west of the meeting with KwolokClimb the eastern wall, Bash off the lantern, then Double Jump and glide west
Energy Cell FragmentRight ledge in the area reached using the bubble beneath a tree branchSwim Dash out of the water and Grapple northeast
Life Cell FragmentUpper wall in the arena revisited after the anemone puzzleAfter the fight, Swim Dash out and bounce on a bubble
Energy HarvestLeft ledge in the room beyond that arenaSwim Dash out of the water and jump onto the ledge

The Ultra Bash detour shares a chamber with the barrier that opens a shortcut to an earlier section. A good approach is to check both barriers during the same visit: the northeastern one leads to the shard, while the eastern one clears the shortcut.

For the mysterious seed, a good approach is to identify the lantern and hanging ledge before attempting the glide. The route goes west from that ledge, whereas the later bubble-platforming sequence takes you toward the wall on the right.

For cleanup, a good approach is to group these pickups around their nearby route landmarks. Check the flooded chamber, the seed alcove, and the arena’s upper wall separately so each return trip has a clear destination.
